Features / Projects and stages
Projects that show where they really are
A project moves through idea, building, beta and live. Everyone can see the stage, and the log explains each move.
The four stages
Idea is a thing you are thinking about. Building means you are actively making it. Beta means people can try it. Live means it has shipped. Each stage has its own colour everywhere it appears.
Shelving is allowed
Not every project ships, and a public record that only shows the ones that worked is misleading. A project can be shelved, and the entry that does it explains why. Shelved is where a project leaves the path, not another step on it.
How a stage changes
Moving a stage is part of writing an entry, so the move always comes with the words that explain it. Only the owner moves the stage.
A project page
Every project has a timeline, its builders, the tools it uses, and its stage. Visitors can follow the project, and owners can open it to builders who want to join.
Common questions
What does shelved mean?
The builder stopped. The log stays, with an entry saying why, so others can learn from it.
Can a project go back to an earlier stage?
Yes. A stage move is just another entry, so moving back is recorded and explained like any other.
